Omani Visit To Bristol – A Coup For Local Businesses

Flying Penguin Enterprises, in partnership with Business West, recently welcomed fifteen Omani automotive business owners to Bristol for a weeklong fact-finding mission. The week was extremely useful for both parties.

“We have made bold steps towards building connections between the West England automotive industry and the Arab World. We are confident that the Omanis have returned home with sharpened business skills and useful new contacts. As a leading member of the Independent Automotive Aftermarket Federation we are fully aware of the value of a contact database in the Gulf. It was a great compliment that the Sultanate of Oman chose Flying Penguin Enterprises as an example of leadership and effective management in the automotive sector.”

Nick Wilton – Director, Flying Penguin Enterprises

“What a coup for Bristol that the Government of the Sultanate of Oman chose our city for a cultural and professional learning exchange. We hope this visit is just the start to us building stronger business connections in the Arab World”

Phil Smith – Managing Director, Business West

[This visit] could well result in great opportunities for companies in the West of England to become part of the supply chain in Oman. In Omani culture it is all about ‘who you know’ and we have opened the door and made connections at high levels”

Clive Wray – Director, Business West

During the visit, the participants took part in training sessions designed to accelerate their business, management and leadership skills. They also visited local companies, to witness first hand how their British counterparts in the automotive aftercare sector operate, and what they offer their customers.

It’s important to add that it wasn’t all work for the Omanis during their week-long visit! For a little relaxation, they managed to take in some of the automotive-related sights that Bristol has to offer, including the Bloodhound Supersonic Car Project. We also topped off the visit with a formal reception at the Mansion House, hosted by none other than the Lord Mayor of Bristol.

All at Flying Penguin Enterprises would like to thank the Sultanate of Oman, and the 15 Omani business owners, for a fruitful and enjoyable visit. We hope that they came away with some useful insights, and we look forward to working together in the future.
